How does CATME protect the confidentiality of student data?
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guidelines require the protection of confidential student data. If instructors release their data for research purposes, all of the identifying information about students (their names, e-mail addresses, and ID numbers) are stripped from the data and replaced with codes that cannot be traced to specific students. What is CATME’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) policy?
Many countries like Canada and Australia have data privacy laws that say that data cannot leave the country. To ensure the privacy of data, CATME uses servers from Amazon Web Services, which are found all over the world. Using these servers, all the instructor information is stored in a server inside the respective countries, hence complying with their laws. To find out more, read our GDPR Policy.
