To all CATME account holders:
For 11 years, the CATME system has been maintained through funding from the United States National Science Foundation. The significant burden of maintaining the system (including hardware, software, and instructor support) make it necessary that we institute a small user license fee starting July 1st 2017. Since 2005 CATME has grown to serve over 13,000 instructor accounts and over 850,000 student users to date at over 1,900 educational institutions in 75 countries. CATME will operate as a Recharge Center (not-for-profit) within the College of Engineering at Purdue University, which means that we will collect only enough fees to cover our costs.
The 2017-2018 CATME license fee will be $2.00 per year per unique student who used CATME in the previous academic year from an educational domain; and provides for unlimited student use in the next academic year. Instructors will not be charged for unlimited use of CATME. Instructor and student CATME data will also be retained indefinitely at the instructor s discretion for historical, grading or research access at no charge. A minimum license fee of 25 unique students or $50.00 will be charged to all single instructor users. Adjustments to the unique student count license fee will be made upon renewal, one year in arrears. This way, there will never any obstacle to adding students to surveys.
There will be two types of CATME licenses available:
A CATME Institution license: The CATME Institution license combines all unique students from that institutional domain from all instructors using that domain s email address during the previous academic year.
A CATME Instructor license: The CATME Instructor license combines all unique students in surveys created by that instructor using his/her email address during the previous academic year.
A 2017-2018 CATME Institution or Instructor license estimated invoice will be available after April 1st, 2017 and will be based upon the appropriate academic calendar of each subscribing educational institution or instructor. The final 2017-2018 CATME license invoice will be issued either May, June or July 1st, 2017 depending on the academic calendar of the subscriber. A preliminary Institution or Instructor license invoice is immediately available for planning or budgeting purposes. There will be no charge for any student placed in CATME surveys with a start date on or before June 30th, 2017.
There will also be no charge for any CATME survey testing or experimenting if our test accounts, student at sysiphus.com, are used. Student test files are available under the instructor tab and attached.
